    Description

    18th century English gilded circle frame with convex mirror. Convex mirrors were very fashionable in the early XVIX century. This style evolved from the renaissance into the neo-classical era. Their use was encouraged by the availability of convex glass in the early 1800s. As a practical value, the convex mirror could reflect large areas and if flanked by sconces or candelabra could reflect more light across the room.
